Insurance & Billing

Insurance carriers and claims administrators we work with

We process equipment orders through workers’ compensation carriers, third-party administrators (TPAs) and auto insurers — verifying coverage, obtaining authorization and submitting the claim directly to them. We are an equipment supplier, not an insurance company.

Coverage

Two types of claims we handle

Workers’ compensation

For accepted work injury claims, prescribed equipment is paid by the employer’s workers’ comp carrier or its TPA. Authorization is usually required — we request it, deliver the equipment and submit the claim.

Auto accident (Michigan no-fault / PIP)

Personal Injury Protection benefits can pay for reasonably necessary medical equipment after a motor vehicle accident, up to the PIP coverage level on the policy. We verify coverage and submit the claim to the auto insurer.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Which insurance companies do you work with?

We work with workers’ compensation and auto insurance carriers and claims administrators including Paradigm, The Hartford, Progressive Auto, Travelers, State Farm, Liberty Mutual (Workers’ Comp), Sedgwick, Gallagher Bassett, AAA Auto, Berkshire Hathaway GUARD, Broadspire, Helmsman Management Services, Meemic and State Auto. If your carrier is not listed, call us — we may still be able to help.

Who submits the claim to the insurance company?

We do. After delivery, we submit the claim to the workers’ comp carrier, TPA or auto insurer with the authorization, HCPCS codes, physician order and proof of delivery, and we follow up until the claim is processed. Patients do not need to file anything for the equipment.

Do I have to pay for my equipment?

For approved workers’ compensation and auto accident claims, we submit the claim directly to the insurance carrier or claims administrator, so patients typically pay nothing out of pocket. Coverage is decided by your carrier and the status of your claim. If anything is not covered, we tell you before delivery.

Does Michigan no-fault insurance cover medical equipment?

Michigan’s no-fault law provides Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits that can pay for reasonably necessary products and services for an injured person’s care, recovery and rehabilitation — including prescribed medical equipment — up to the PIP coverage level on the policy. We verify PIP coverage with the auto insurer before delivery and submit the claim to them.

Who pays for medical equipment in a workers’ compensation claim?

When a work injury claim is accepted, equipment prescribed by the authorized treating physician is paid by the employer’s workers’ compensation carrier or its third-party administrator (TPA). We obtain the authorization and submit the claim to them directly.

What if my claim is pending or the equipment is not approved?

We stay in contact with the adjuster while a claim is pending and let you know as soon as a decision is made. If the equipment is not authorized, we explain your options before anything is delivered.

Not sure if your equipment is covered?

Send us the prescription and claim information. We check coverage with the carrier and let you know before anything is delivered.
